Cathy Lamb & Carl Dennis
Recognized as G.R.E.A.T. Ambassadors
Cathy Lamb and Carl Dennis, have been named as Oconee Regional Medical Center, Inc’s G.R.E.A.T. Ambassadors. Created by the Georgia Hospital Association (GHA), this designation celebrates and showcases the commitment and caring that hospital employees bring to their job, community and to the Georgia health care industry. The G.R.E.A.T. Ambassador Program, which stands for Giving Recognition for Excellence, Advocacy, and Teamwork, provides hospital employees the opportunity to tell their personal stories about how they chose a health care profession, why they like their job and what they like about working for their hospital.
Lamb and Dennis are both staff members of ORMC’s Laboratory, directed by Department Director, Pam Hopkins. Lamb has been employed with ORMC for 19 years. She said, “It’s good to feel the sense of community that we have here. I don’t suppose my story is typical of a “great ambassador.” I don’t think I’m the self-sacrificing type. I did always think of this job as a “helping” type of job, just because we help people to get well, even if we don’t sit and hold their hands or dry their tears. We still play an important role in their diagnoses and in helping them to recover from infectious diseases.”
Dennis has been employed here for 18 years. “Becoming a Phlebotomist, at ORMC’s, Laboratory has enriched my life in countless ways,” said Dennis. When people ask me, “Do you like being a phlebotomist?” I smile and think of the people that I help by doing what I do the best I can. I am blessed to work with fine professionals in the ORMC Laboratory, and look forward to working with them for years to come, he said.
Cathy Lamb and Carl Dennis are ideal recipient’s for ORMC’s, G.R.E.A.T. Ambassador recognition,” said Jean Aycock, President & CEO, of ORMC, Inc. “They represent everything ORMC, Inc. stands for: compassionate care and teamwork.”
Each hospital employee, not just caregivers, was invited to submit a story to the Human Resources Department. The essays were personal stories explaining what being a health care employee has meant to them. The Human Resources Department chose two G.R.E.A.T. Ambassador’s to represent the hospital and submitted the essays to GHA.
